Let’s Try This One More Time…

Well, I hate to change, but Typepad was getting expensive… especially after our little spending spree of a plasma tv, digital cable, entertainment center and wall mount…. yikes. So Brian’s tightening the financial reigns and Typepad was one of the “extras” to go. I like free so this should work out well.

We ended our last day of summer fun by visiting my best friend in Xenia and her three kids. Her two boys are the same age and my two older boys. I got to check out her homeschool area and drooled over their new iMac. That evening we went to Brian’s parents for swimming and a movie ~ they have a state of the art media room which the boys love. It was a nice way to end our days of freedom.

We started school Tuesday. It went well. Today didn’t go as well. Lots of resistance and attitudes… including me. The boys needed some time out so we hung out with some friends this evening which was much needed.

I have some big ideas for homeschool this year. I need some time to organize my thoughts. So for now, I’ll deal with what I’ve got. Brian asked me today, how I do it… homeschool. Its definitely a passion from God. I can’t say its easy, but its a desire that He has given me. I know these years are gonna fly by and I never want to look back and regret not spending more time with my little guys. They’re truly a blessing.

Hope your new year of homeschooling goes well, Jenna! :) I know it gets super-crazy sometimes… Nope, definitely not easy, but the best things in life usually aren’t. At least that’s what I tend to find. ;) I love your layout; I’ve debated on using that one but haven’t.. yet.

    Thanks, Tara…
I love what you said about the best things in life usually aren’t easy ~ how true.

    God bless!

How’s school going so far? This is always my favorite time of the school year- starting fresh and all.

Its going ok… Noah is pretty unflexible about his life so change isn’t always a good thing for him. Its been a rough start, but I remember it was last year for a couple weeks, then smooth from there. I went to Target tonight and filled up our “treasure box” with goodies… ie: bribe toys (the dollar spot is awesome!). If they even know something is out there waiting for them, they are angels. I am also in the middle of deciding what to do with our homeschool room situation… move Noah out of his room and put all the boys together and make Noah’s old room a homeschool room… I’m trying to finish up continuing education for my RN license which is due in 2 days so that is my focus in the evenings, so after that I’m making some changes, then I’ll be more excited about HS. WOW! You weren’t expecting all that, were you???

Ack! You are one busy chick! Good luck figuring out the homeschool room. I miss mine (our old house had a HUGE extra room that we used for a schoolroom… Ahhhhh…. now we feel so crammed…. I can’t wait to have room for a school room again…). Did you switch curriculums? What are you guys using this year? Curriculum is my biggest downfall, because I want to try it all!!! :-)

We feel crammed too… books in every corner of our house, it seems. I’m sure its more of a bigger deal to us as moms than to the kids. I am doing kind of the same thing with Noah per the Well Trained Mind recommendations. There were a few switches from last year, but all in line with what they recommend. I’m doing My Father’s World K with Sam. It incorporates several methods (classical, Charlotte Mason) and its all laid out which is nice. He seems to like it so far. I LOVE to buy curriculum stuff too… its a downfall for sure! We are also starting Latin with Noah this year which will be interesting for both of us, I’m sure! We need to get the boys together here soon before cold weather hits :( How’s Ella’s eye??
